Are you looking for easy ways to kill garden weeds naturally?
There are many things that can be done in order to get rid of weeds around your lawn and garden. I have compiled a list of ways to eradicating weeds, once and for all. Some of them are just common sense, and just by implementing some of this techniques, you will save time and avoid using chemical herbicides.
Few Simple Steps To Kill Garden Weeds Naturally
- Use mulch
Mulch is a great way to suppress weed germination. It greatly improves moisture retention, and adds nutrients to the soil. Trees and shrubs will benefit from a thick layer of mulch. Generally 3-4″ of mulch will be ideal. Be careful not to pile mulch against plants of tree trunks.
- Use Vinegar
Natural pesticides are popular because they offer the same results chemical pesticides do, and they are proven to be safer. I use horticultural vinegar to kill many weeds around my yard. I use a product that contains citric acid and clove oil. It kills weeds easily, and it smells good too!
- Flame Torch
This is basically a small torch attached to a propane tank, like the ones you use on your outdoor grill. This is a great tool, and I have used it many times in the past. Specially on brick walkways. And what I like about it, is that it kills the weed, and it also kills the weed seed. So instead of spraying with a weed killer each plant or weed, you can spend the same amount of time just burning off the undesirable plant.
I love this one, specially if you use it around mulched garden beds, to make the mulch look fresh. I use a small electric tiller. I am not looking to rototill down in the soil, but just to loosen up the top inch of soil or mulch. Most of the weeds growing in the mulch will be disturbed and easy to kill.
- Boiling Water
This is also a great way to kill weeds growing in the walkway. You have to be careful not to spill water on your lawn, since it will most likely cause damage to the grass.
